Shopping is usually associated with women. There is no doubt
that many women love to shop and they also love to express their love for
shopping. However, there is no reason to believe that men do not love shopping.
Men, just like women, can love to indulge in lifestyle products.
In the last few years, the tendency of men going out just for
shopping has increased significantly. There are a number of factors acting
behind this phenomenon. First of all, there is the peer pressure. When men see
their friends adorning beautiful jackets and suits, they feel like shopping for
themselves. Secondly, there is the rise in the available merchandise for men in
the market. Today, there are a number of brands which bring out new collections
of products exclusively designed for men. A few of these brands do such awesome
works that men are not able to resist the urge to go shopping. According to the
market analysts of Mumbai, this fall season has witnessed a tremendous growth
in the number of men visiting shopping malls in the city. Although no
substantial research have been made in this domain, it has been observed that
there are a few items whose sale has increased significantly in the men’s
category maintained by the shopping malls of Mumbai. Here are three of those
items.
1. Jackets
Mumbai lies in such a geographical position that it never
gets to enjoy winter. The temperature remains well above the standard
temperature which can be empirically termed as being wintery. This is the
reason why sweaters and woollen garments have never enjoyed the amount of sale
in Mumbai which these items do in other cities such as Delhi. However, this
year, there has been a remarkable rise in the sale of men’s jackets. According
to the analysts, this is because of the introduction of light jackets by
various clothing brands for men. When one goes to buy
men’s clothing, the jackets are not considered as garments of heat in
Mumbai, rather a style statement in the Christmas /New Year holiday season.
2. Polo
T-shirts
Market analysts have noticed that in the last few years,
there has been a shift in the preference of t-shirts among the men in Mumbai.
The round neck t-shirt was the most popular design of t-shirt for a number of
years. The V-neck t-shirts had also tried to make a mark in the market, but never
succeeded in doing so. However, now the pointer of popularity has turned
towards collared t-shirts, especially, US Polo India tshirts.
3. Beanies
Although it seems insignificant when considered individually,
the sale of beanies has made records this year. Market analysts are not able to
explain the sudden rise in the popularity of beanies. They suspect that it has
got something to do with men’s grooming habits and hair styles.
